Sourcing an image from Diego Rivera’s iconic Detroit Industry Murals located at the Detroit Institute of Art, Iman Raad has focused on one of the most negligible elements from Rivera’s frescoes: the fruits and vegtable. While Detroit’s industrial landscape has dramatically changed since the times of Rivera, Raad pursuits the bowl of fruit as cultural constant – symbol of life and pleasure. Through playful imitations of an overprint (a common glitch in print production) Raad signals awareness of materiality and reality of "Image" – quality of the image substrate and the image making history.
